MAN refugee aid: Hope for people in need

MAN takes on responsibility – for people who had to flee their home country. MAN and its employees are jointly supporting various relief organizations for refugee aid in Germany. This includes emergency relief and long-term measures, such as education projects. The selected projects are both aimed at meeting the most urgent needs but also at creating long-term perspectives for refugees to help in a sustainable way.

It goes without saying that MAN helps with the reception and integration of refugees. The Company and its employees therefore help where help is needed most urgently: supporting refugees in everyday life. The initiatives range from preparatory language and school courses to making vehicles available. The employees are also collecting donations for relief organizations at the MAN sites in Germany.

Here is one project that MAN is supporting at the moment:

Cheering together: MAN invites refugees to basketball game

Refugee minors at a basketball game of the Munich basketball club at the Audio Dome venue

On Sunday, April 10, the FC Bayern Munich basketball team had international support for its match against the Walter Tigers Tübingen: MAN invited unaccompanied refugee minors to the home game of the Munich basketball club at the Audi Dome venue. The total of 36 young people from SOS Children’s Villages Ammersee-Lech, who went to see the game together with MAN trainees, are from countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, Eritrea, Somalia, and Iraq. MAN sponsored the bus trip to get there. When they arrived at Audi Dome, the trainees and the refugees met again in front of the hall. Then they went inside together to cheer for the team at full tilt. FC Bayern Munich managed to maintain its table position and won with a clear lead. The result lit up the faces of the fifteen to sixteen-year-olds. The visit to the basketball game is part of the long-term partnership between MAN trainees and the unaccompanied refugee minors. MAN has been supporting the refugees of the SOS Children’s Villages — some of them who only came here about one year ago — with extensive education programs to integrate them in the long run.
