Helping hands: MAN supports SOS Children’s Village in Augsburg

Active support for children, young people, and families in need: The longstanding partnership with SOS Children’s Village allows MAN employees to actively participate in a variety of the organization’s projects. The new cooperation with SOS Children’s Village in Augsburg further expands the employee volunteering program at MAN.

In 2015 MAN Diesel & Turbo is planning to release its employees from work for a total of 100 hours to support the SOS Children’s Village in Augsburg. During this time they can participate in the organization’s projects, contribute their personal skills, and provide sustainable assistance for the residents’ daily life. A task with particular responsibility.

Helmut Kast, head of SOS Children’s Village Augsburg, is pleased with MAN Diesel & Turbo’s dedication: “Their help means a lot to us and the residents of the Children’s Village. Helping hands and expertise are always needed.”

And help is already on its way: The cooperation’s kick-off event was a cooking course for single mothers with MAN corporate catering.

“MAN places emphasis on a healthy diet in corporate catering. I find it important to demonstrate that a balanced and affordable diet with high-quality products is not necessarily a contradiction”, says Gerhard Frauenschuh, head of MAN Diesel & Turbo’s corporate catering.

The apprentices at MAN’s training center also lend a helping hand. They already set up a donations basket at the organization’s building. This basket helps to collect everyday items for the benefit of families in need in the region.
