MAN is aware of its responsibility. We emit CO2 through our products and services as well as in our plants. That is why the Executive Board of MAN SE approved the MAN Climate Strategy in 2011, which has made a significant contribution to our CO2 reduction. Our MAN Climate Strategy is a basic element of the MAN CSR Strategy and plays its part in enabling the Company to reach its targets.
Key points of the Climate Strategy
Above all, we see the central starting point for reducing CO2 in our own product portfolio, our own production plants worldwide, and our supply chain.
For our production plants, we have set ourselves the climate target of reducing absolute CO2 emissions at our MAN production sites by 25% compared to 2008 levels by 2020. That is around 135,000 tons of CO2 less and roughly equivalent to emissions from a small German town of 15,000 inhabitants. In 2018, we reached this target ahead of schedule.
In the past reporting year, we were able to reduce CO2 emissions by 35%.
