MAN Nutzfahrzeuge at IFAT 2008
At the IFAT, the world’s leading fair for water – wastewater – waste – recycling 2008 from 5th to 9th May 2008 in Munich, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge is presenting its range of vehicles in Hall C4, Stand 311. Its exhibits will include branch-specific optimised public-utility vehicles from the MAN TGL, TGM and TGS ranges for the tasks of waste disposal, road cleaning, snow clearing and conduit cleaning. Further MAN trucks will be taking part in the accompanying vehicle demonstration “VAK Truck in Action“ by VAK, the German association for the implement and public-utility industry, on the showground.
The MAN TGM with the short wheelbase of 3050 mm in the all-wheel-drive version will be celebrating its world premiere. MAN is thus offering municipal centres very compact and manoeuvrable vehicles for deployment throughout the year.
At the fair MAN will be announcing the introduction of extremely low-emission engines which comply with the strict exhaust-gas values for EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicles). The emissions of the D08 CommonRail engine range which meets this voluntary emission are thus even lower than those set by the Euro 5 standard, which will not become mandatory until autumn 2009. Technically MAN achieves the EEV standard without any AdBlue, but has opted for further development of the long-tried-and-tested combination of exhaust-gas recirculation and MAN PM-KAT®. Especially for public-utility vehicles, which are mainly deployed in built-up areas, purchasers and operators demand the most environmentally friendly exhaust-gas settings. Deliveries of the MAN TGL and TGM with the EEV engines can be expected at the beginning of 2009.
The adaptation of the MAN TGM for sweeper operation with its very different driving profile is also new. It was possible to bring the different requirements together: a high driving speed between the locations to be swept, a low sweeping speed of under 2 km/h and the body unit powered by the vehicle engine. MAN Nutzfahrzeuge fulfils these expectations for economical vehicle deployment by installing an engageable reduction gearbox and a PTO for the body unit at the flywheel end.
