MAN truck No. 1,000 for the GC Group
For almost a decade, GC Sanitär- und Heizungs-Handels-Contor GmbH has been putting its trust in efficient transport solutions from MAN Truck & Bus.
The GC Group, Germany's market leaders in building technology, civil engineering and industrial technology, has ordered its thousandth MAN truck. The delivery of a TGL 8.180 4x2 BL expands the MAN fleet of this internationally active company. The GC Group is an MAN Truck & Bus customer of long standing whose vehicle acquisitions since 2009 have been mainly trucks from the Munich commercial vehicles manufacturer, which head daily for construction sites throughout Europe. The specialist wholesaler operates predominantly trucks in the TGL series, which have uniform basic equipment regardless of where they are stationed on the continent. Their low-pollution Euro 5 engines allow them to operate in all inner cities, while their special bodies make these vehicles extremely light and suitable for variable deployment.
Michael Wessel, responsible for the procurement of capital goods at the GC Group, has special praise for the attractive overall package from MAN Truck & Bus: "What is most important for us has always been the total cost of ownership and in this regard, MAN made us the right offer at the right time. A high-quality product, uniform vehicle configuration and all-round support in all countries totally convinced us." Whenever it orders a vehicle, the GC Group orders the associated service and maintenance agreement at the same time, and has done so for its entire European fleet. The package covers all regular servicing plus the repair of wear and tear at the nearest MAN Truck & Bus workshop. This service has noticeably decreased the workload on the GC Group.
In cooperation with a body builder, the MAN trucks are fitted with a highly stable synthetic front wall, a 21-mm thick phenolic-resin-coated plywood floor, a tarpaulin and an MBB liftgate complete with AluLite platform. Extensive use of aluminium and an intelligent steel construction make the MAN TGL as light as possible so that every trip to the customer is an efficient one with the maximum amount of cargo. Finally, MAN Truck & Bus, via its local Sales organisations, delivers the completely configured vehicles to the European destinations required by the GC Group. Responsibility for organising these processes and ensuring that they run smoothly lies with the experts of MAN's International Key Account Management, which provides single-source support to big corporate fleets operating all over the world.
Founded in Bremen in 1921 as suppliers of pipes and tubing, Röhrenhandlung Cordes & Graefe developed to become a wholesale supplier of building technology, until in 1975 the company became today's GC Sanitär- und Heizungs-Handels-Contor GmbH. In the meantime the GC Group has come to comprise more than one hundred independent partners with a total of over 15,000 employees. For several years now the Group has also been active in - besides all the other segments of the building technology field - the electrical installation industry and roofing technology.
