MAN Truck & Bus strengthening its sales structure in Europe

Following the dissolution of the joint venture with Pon, MAN has taken over full management in the strategically important French and Belgian markets and will expand its staff.

MAN and Pon Holdings have signed a contractual agreement dissolving the jointly-owned company they founded in 2007 to offer truck and bus sales and service. This agreement is subject to approval by the relevant competition authorities.

The national companies in France and Belgium will be reintegrated into MAN Truck & Bus AG and its international sales structure. Cooperation with MAN Truck & Bus Niederlande, which is to remain with Pon, will continue on the basis of an importer contract. Control over these markets will be the responsibility of the Sales Region Western Europe. Its CEO, Joachim Dürr, will have the additional support of Ms Birgit Kuhn as CFO of the region. In France, CEO Bert van Hasselt is expanding his management team by adding Hartmut Müller, who will take over the role of COO.

"Together with our joint venture partner Pon we were able to become even more successful in the markets of these important countries. We can build on this solid foundation if we control business in this region directly again and continue developing it," says Dr Frank Hiller, Director of Marketing, Sales and Service of MAN Truck & Bus AG. "By doing this we will boost our activities in the European core market with the objective of further improving our customer service and increasing the market share of our strong MAN and NEOPLAN brands," emphasised Hiller.
