MAN Lions City Hybrid voted Bus of the Year 2011 in Spain

A panel of experts on local public transport in Spain has honoured the MAN Lion's City Hybrid as its "Autobús del Año 2011".

Since the beginning of 2011, an MAN Lion's Hybrid has been in regular service in Barcelona. The MAN Lion's Hybrid has been recognised with Spain's "Bus of the Year 2011" award.

"We are very happy to have been awarded the prestigious title of "Bus of the Year" for the MAN Lion's City Hybrid. This demonstrates the confidence that the sector has in our groundbreaking product," enthused Sigfredo Moreno, Sales Manager Bus at MAN Truck&Bus Iberia S.A. unipersonal. An MAN Lion's City Hybrid has been serving a route in Barcelona since the beginning of this year and other Spanish cities have also ordered this innovative city bus. Decisive for the panel was the experience gathered during comprehensive test operation in Munich and Nuremberg, where the MAN Lion's City Hybrid displayed a high degree of potential savings in fuel consumption and CO2 emission. At the same time, the bus proved itself more than ready for the rigours of daily operation on a scheduled line.

This national award was set up by the Spanish newspaper Revista Viajeros and the panel of judges consists largely of experts from various of Spain's local public transport companies. Miguel Ruiz, president of the Asociación de Transporte Urbano Colectivo and simultaneously the representative of Malaga's local public transport on the panel, presented the award to MAN Spain during a short ceremony in Madrid.
